Chief Living Solutions, INC. was established in 2025 with a simple yet powerful mission: to help men and women suffering from substance use disorder reclaim their lives and find lasting recovery.
Founded in beautiful Aiken, South Carolina, our organization was born from the lived experience of a 21year retired Chief Warrant Officer 3 and his supportive wife. As a combat veteran and someone who has faced the challenges of disability and recovery, he understood firsthand the struggles of rebuilding after hardship—and the hope that comes from having a safe, supportive community. Together, they created Chief Living Solutions as a place where that hope could grow.
Our goal is to empower individuals in recovery. We focus especially on working veterans, first responders, and those who have served or supported our country and their families. Together we work to find strength, purpose, and accountability in a structured sober living environment. We believe in the power of community, connection, and resilience, and we are dedicated to walking alongside each resident on their journey toward a healthier, more purposeful life.
At Chief Living Solutions, we don’t just provide housing. We provide a foundation for healing, growth, and a future filled with possibility.
Meet the Team
President and Co-Founder
Joshua A Beler
CW3 Joshua A. Beler (Retired) is a Disabled Combat Veteran who proudly served in the United States Army from September 2002 to October 2023. Over the course of two decades, he dedicated his life to leadership, service, and the defense of our nation, including multiple deployments in support of combat operations.
In 2020, while en route to another deployment, Joshua contracted COVID-19 and was hospitalized in the ICU for 30 days. The deployment was cancelled, and his long road to recovery began at the Soldier Recovery Unit in Fort Bliss, Texas. What followed was an unexpected and painful chapter. His battle with long-term COVID complications led to depression, isolation, and eventually, a struggle with substance use disorder.
Living in the shadows and battling silently at home, Joshua ultimately sought help and found hope at The Bluff in Augusta, Georgia, where he entered treatment for alcohol use disorder. This life-changing experience became a turning point. Upon completing his rehabilitation, Joshua made the difficult decision to leave federal civilian service and dedicate himself fully to a new mission: supporting Veterans, their families, and others on their journey through recovery.
At the center of Joshua’s story is his wife, Karen, and their five children, whose love, patience, and support have carried him through his most difficult seasons. Together, they share a commitment to service, family, and service, which now fuels their work in helping others find hope and healing.
Joshua now channels his lived experience, military leadership, and unwavering commitment into creating recovery-focused environments for Veterans and their families. Through empathy, structure, and community, he helps others reclaim their lives………..just as he did.
His story is one of service, struggle, resilience, and purpose. This story continues today to his work with recovery based initiatives and veteran support programs.
Vice President and Co-Founder
Karen L Beler
Karen Beler is the proud wife of CW3 Joshua A. Beler (Retired) and together they are raising five children. As an Army wife, Karen has firsthand experience with the challenges, sacrifices, and resilience required of military families. She deeply understands the impact that deployments, long separations, and the stresses of military life can have on both service members and their loved ones.
Karen has also walked through the pain and devastation that substance use disorder can bring to a marriage and a family. Her journey has given her a unique perspective and a compassionate heart for supporting spouses, partners, and families navigating similar struggles.
Professionally, Karen serves at Aiken Regional Medical Center’s ER at Sweetwater in North Augusta, SC, where she brings her care and commitment to the community every day. Her work in healthcare, combined with her personal experiences as a military spouse and mother, makes her a vital part of Chief Living Solutions.
Karen’s role focuses on strengthening families, fostering resilience, and ensuring that recovery includes healing for the entire support system—not just the individual.
